Dota 2 is currently one of the biggest games at Steam and one of the major competitors of League of Legends. Unfortunatly there are hardly any Dota 2 competitions being played at any Benelux events. FoM wants to change that, that's why we've added this competition.
We found some great sponsors that share the same opinion like us to stimulate the Benelux Dota 2 community. They are bringing in some great products for our Dota 2 prizepool with a total value of €2350!
ROCCAT provides us with some nice gear valued at €1350! Norton brings in mobile security software for the top 3 worth €600. CM Storm adds some extra prizes for the 1st place worth €400! A total value of €2350 for our first ROCCAT Dota 2 competition!
You still can register for this competition: ROCCAT Dota 2

Title: Dota 2 (http://store.steampowered.com/app/570/)
Game Type: Captains Mode (5v5)
FoM Compo Size: Normal
Admins: j1nx (http://steamcommunity.com/id/j1nx_belgium),
Eevee (http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197966823759/)
Compo Structure: 2 Poules, followed by double elimination.
The best teams of each poule starts in the Upper Bracket (best 2 of each poule), and the 2nd best teams (position 3 & 4 of each poule) start in the Lower Bracket
Teams are required to register with one of the Dota 2 Admins (J1nx or Eevee).
Registration includes; Team Name, all active & backup players (with real name, primary nickname & Steam-account), identity of the team leader/captain/manager (same as active & backup players).
A minimum of 5 players is required to enter the competition.
Registering more than 5 players per team is allowed.
Each player can only be part of 1(one) Dota 2 Team entering the competition.
Team members (excluding team leaders/captains/manaders) can be removed anytime as long as at least five members are left.
To request a removal, contact the Dota 2 Admins.
A new member can only be added during the competition on Friday or Saturday, but not Sunday (‘Final day’ of the competition), if he hasn’t played a game for another team inside the competition.
To request an addition, contact the Dota 2 Admins.
Registration for teams ends at 22.00h Friday.
Removals or additions can be requested during the whole competition if requirements are met.
At least one member (the team leader/captain/manager) of each team has to add both Dota 2 admins to their Steam friends-list.
All games will be hosted in “Local-Mode” (as found under “Create Lobby” -> “Create Local Lobby”) by one of the players of the teams. Dota 2 Admins can take over the hosting of the game should it be required.
(ask the Dota 2 Admins if additional information is required).
Note: hosting a game might increase performance required for running Dota 2 (don’t worry, it is only a very tiny increase)
Spectator options are, at time of writing, not yet available for Local games.
If this is changed by the time of the tournament, Spectators will be turned OFF.
Dota 2 Admins can request a spectator slot. If this happens, the Dota 2 Admin(s) will host the game instead of one the players.
Lobby Password: Free to choose by hosting party (This password needs to be told to one of the Dota 2 Admins upon creation of the lobby)
Game name: [Your team name] vs [Opponents team name]
Game mode: CAPTAINS MODE
Cheats: NO
Version: Tournament
Series Type: No series
Starting Team: Random
Penalty: None, for both teams
Which team starts at Radiant/Dire can be agreed upon by the teams among themselves. However if both teams want to start at the same side, a Dota 2 Admin will decide (based on a coin toss).
For other then “Best of one” games, the starting position will alternate based on the side chosen in game 1.
Games should be hosted on time, as per schedule.
When a team isn’t ready 5 minutes after the game has been hosted (and the start time has passed), please contact and Admin.
The hero pool always consists of all in Captains Mode available heroes and might therefore change several times during the competition. The game must not be paused during the draft, unless a drafter disconnects.
Each team has the right to pause the game for an acceptable duration, if a player announces it at least three seconds in advance and calls a coherent reason (exception: not necessary, if someone disconnects).
Inform the Dota 2 Admins if pauses are “unacceptable”.
The game must not be resumed before both teams agree with it.
When the number or the duration of breaks becomes too high or long, the Admins may force the continuation of the game.
Guidelines for acceptable durations:
Personal issues: If one or more players disconnect due to personal issues, the game may be paused for a maximum of 5 minutes per team (per map) The disconnected players must join the game as soon as possible. Personal issues include: PC crash, network cable disconnected, Dota 2 crash…
Frag-o-Matic issues: If one or more players disconnect due to Frag-o-Matic issues, the game may be paused for a maximum of 30 minutes. When this period of time has elapsed, the game will be rehosted when all issues have been resolved. Frag-o-Matic issues include: Network failure, power-outages, …
If any serious bugs occur, the game has to be paused immediately and the administration decides how to continue. Abusing a bug is forbidden.
A team can request a remake (For user errors such as double buying couriers by mistake) at a Dota 2 Admin. The Admins will decide if the remake can be granted.
Pause the game if your team wants to request a remake, until a Dota 2 Admin has allowed the remake or not.
Remade games will be hosted in ALL PICK, with the same heroes as picked during drafting phase.
Remakes can only be granted as long as the game hasn’t started yet.
Following events, but not limited to these examples, count as the start of a game;
Creeps spawning, Roshan being slain, teams meeting in their or opponents jungle, getting first blood before creeps spawn, anything that can reveal a strategy for either teams,
The usage of any Dota-related tool aside from Steam and Dota 2 during a match is strictly forbidden.
A game is finished, when an Ancient Fortress is destroyed, when one team obviously forfeits, when the majority of a team leaves on purpose, or when the administration decides on it.
Teams will be divided into Poules.
Top 2 teams of each will start in the Upper Bracket.
The next 2 teams will start in the Lower Bracket.
Teams not placed in either Upper or Lower bracket are eliminated from the tournament.
If you lose a game in the Upper Bracket, you will go down to the Lower Bracket.
If you lose a game in the Lower Bracket, you are eliminated from the tournament.
Upper Bracket matches will use the Best-Of-3 format.
Lower Bracket matches will use the Best-Of-1 format.
(NOTE: This is subject to change if much more teams subscribe and thus will make the current structure impossible due to time contraints)
You can contact a Dota 2 Admin via Steam or at the Compodesk.
One member of each team is required to add both Dota 2 Admins to their Steam-Friends.
j1nx (http://steamcommunity.com/id/j1nx_belgium),
Eevee (http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197966823759/)
Screenshots can be used to prove the score of a match. (Standard button for screenshots in steam is F12)
When a Dota 2 Admin is required to make a decision about the outcome of a match, teams might be required to deliver the replay file of the match, the Dota 2 Admin(s) will watch this replay before a decision is made.
The full match replay will be stored on the lobby host’s PC, you will be able to find the replay in your “dota 2 beta\dota\replays\<match-id>.dem” folder and from there it can be shared over email, a file host or other media.
As a player, broadcaster or spectator you can also manually record your own match replay by using the command (in colsole): record [filenamehere]
