Tournament Rulebook: Chess

1. General Information

1.1 Tournament Format

• Game Mode: Chess – Rapid

• Time Control: 25 minutes per player per game (hereafter referred to as 25p.p.p.g).

• Player Format: 1 vs. 1

• Equipment: Chess boards, chess pieces, and chess clocks will be provided by Frag o Matic.

• Playing Area: A designated area will be provided for all tournament matches.

• ID Deposit: Both players must provide a valid ID as a deposit before receiving the tournament equipment. The ID will be returned once all equipment has been checked and returned.

1.2 Tournament Structure

The tournament will take place throughout the entire event and will consist of two phases:

1. Phase 1 – Swiss Stage

2. Phase 2 – Grand Finals / Elimination Bracket

Deadlines will be set for each stage to ensure that the tournament progresses according to schedule.

2. Tournament Phases

2.1 Phase 1 – Swiss Stage

The Swiss Stage will take place from Friday evening until Saturday evening.

All games during this phase will use a time control of 25p.p.p.g.

The number of groups and games played will depend on the total number of participants:

Players will be ranked based on their results in the Swiss Stage. These standings will determine qualification and seeding for the Grand Finals.

2.2 Phase 2 – Grand Finals

The Grand Finals will take place from Saturday evening until Sunday at 18:00.

All games during this phase will use a time control of 25p.p.p.g.

The elimination bracket will be determined based on the number of participants:

3. Player Responsibilities

3.1 Equipment

Before tournament equipment is handed out, an administrator and both players will verify that all equipment is complete and in good condition.

The equipment provided may include:

• Chess board

• Chess pieces

• Chess clock

• Any other equipment provided by the organization

After the match, the equipment must be returned to the designated tournament staff.

The equipment will be checked again upon return. If any equipment is missing or damaged, the organizers reserve the right to request compensation from the players responsible. (15 euro per person)

Both players are responsible for the equipment provided to them during their match.

3.2 Match Conduct

Players are expected to treat their opponent, the tournament staff, and the provided equipment with respect.

Players must follow the tournament rules and any instructions given by tournament administrators.

4. Administration

4.1 Admin Decisions

Tournament administrators are responsible for interpreting and enforcing the rules.

All decisions made by the tournament administrators are final.

Any disputes, problems, or rule violations must be reported to an administrator immediately after the match concludes. Complaints raised significantly later may not be considered.

Administrators reserve the right to intervene in a match if necessary to ensure fair play and the proper progression of the tournament.

5. Fair Play

All participants are expected to compete fairly and in good sportsmanship.

Any form of cheating, intentional manipulation of results, or behavior that negatively affects the integrity of the tournament may result in penalties, including disqualification.

The tournament administration has the final authority regarding any suspected violations of the rules.
