FoMCON, the name has been above the site now for a while but what does it mean? During FoM 13.1: Pirates we will have our first edition of FoMCON, a gaming venue where game-related companies can showcase their products and/or organising competitions for. The venue will take place on Saturday the 24th of September.

The fun part about FoMCON is that not only you can see the newest games or you can have a small talk with the makers of the game but the venue is totally free as well! Visitors can still visit the lanparty at no cost, same counts for FoMCON. Participants of the lanparty have a nice addition as extra entertainment and who knows they might get something extra...

Already three partners have confirmed to participate in FoMCON. Electronic Arts is going to attend FoMCON after their attendenance during E3 and Gamescom, showcasing their upcoming FPS title Battlefield 3. Next to a preview of Battlefield 3 you will be able to play FIFA12 as well. EA will be holding a FIFA12 competition with some great prizes from EA!

As the second partner we can announce our Belgian biggest gaming studio called Larian Studios. They will presentating their newest game called Dragon Commander. Dragons with jetpacks, do I need to say more?! What else they are planning during FoMCON will be announced later...

In the far north, in Finland to be exactly, there's a studio called Nitro Games. They are the one and only masters of knowledge when it's all about pirates and they already released multiple pirate games. Unfortunatly they can't attend FoMCON but FoM will be holding a competition with their newest game called Pirates of Black Cove as well as some play sessions.

Could you please give more information on how you are going to ensure the security of our material , with all the visitors running around between the lan participants ?

We're enforcing the security on our event on many fields.

First of all, everyone entering the event (also as a visitor) will be registered and there will be permanent supervision at both the entrance and exit.

Like the previous edition we'll also be placing security cameras, and even increase their number.

FoMCON will also take place during daytime, so there is also the 'social' control of the participants around you (as a note: visitors are not allowed after 1 AM).

Apart from the measures I've mentioned here we're also working on some additional measures.

In de crew zitten er mensen die vroeger als bewakingsagent hebben gewerkt. (waaronder mezelf) Alsook zal de security deze editie strenger zijn met een vollidig nieuw uitgewerkt systeem. We beschikken over een nieuw inkomsysteem hiervoor waarbij je niet zomaar zonder controle met een scherm en/of pc zal kunnen buitenwandelen. Alsook rugzakken worden gecontroleerd. Zeker bij bezoekers.

Alsook is er professionele camerabewaking voorzien.

Dat er af en toe eens een muis en/of andere zaken gestolen worden, kunnen we niet altijd voorkomen. De verantwoordelijkheid ligt natuurlijk ook wel een beetje aan de deelnemer zelf om gsm's/portefeuilles/dure gaming muizen alleen zonder toezicht te laten rondslingeren op de tafel.

Een goede raad is dan ook dat er steeds iemand van je groep bij het matriaal blijft toezicht houden als er iemand gaat slapen. Vraag desnoods aan je buurman of hij mee een oogje in het zeil houdt op je matriaal en omgekeerd.
