A couple of editions ago we started with a new concept called 'FoMCON'. FoMCON is our own awesome gaming expo with several partners. This time, the FoMCON activities won't be limited to just Saturday -- there'll be FoMCON activities on Friday as well!

This will be Ubisoft Belgium's first appearance at FoMCON, and they're coming in guns blazing to satisfy our Benelux audience! The invited press will have just finished testing Trials Evolution when you guys will be first to play Trials Evolution (PC). Here's a juicy detail: ten-times world champion motorcross Stefan Everts will be attending as well, and will be racing against members of the press! This means that you can expect an exciting showmatch which everyone can view on our big screens. Action and excitement are guaranteed!
In cooperation with Hewlett Packard and SteelSeries we have an awesome Free to Play zone with 12 new high-end PC's and the latest gaming pheriphals. This zone will be used on Friday night to promote Trials Evolution. Afterwards, from Saturday morning onwards, the Zone will be transformed into a ShootMania F2P Zone where you can try out ShootMania!
The stand will be pretty hard to miss, but just in case: you can find it to the right of the main stage.
Electronic Arts Belgium will also be attending FoMCON this year with two cool booths!
EA Crysis 3 Zone
In the EA Crysis 3 Zone you will be able to try out THE survival game of the year: Crysis 3! EA will let you play a complete level from the Single Player campaign (playing time: +/- 30-60min).
Everyone who tests Crysis 3 will automatically receive a free, exclusive Crysis 3 T-shirt! Next to that, you enter the drawing to win one of the three Crysis 3 copies (these will be sent by post once the game releases).
You can find the EA Crysis 3 Zone inbetween the Tones and Gamegear booths.

FoM 15.0 is looking for THE ULTIMATE SURVIVOR!
Are you comfortable in the wild? Have you seen a lot of McGyver episodes? Do you hunt for bears in your free time? Are you fearless? Then you may have the right skillset for this competition!
Everyone can participate! Just come to the shooting booth between 10am and 12am and demonstrate your skills with the arrow & the bow. You can do this between two clan wars it just takes a minute or two ;-) You can try 5 times and the admins will write down your name & points. You will need them later ;-)

Now it gets serious. Only real men & women are allowed to enter test 3 & 4. We will make a ranking after test 1 & 2 on the website and only the 15 best can enter test 3 & 4 (make sure you do both test 1 & 2 => more points). If you make it this far, you'll be asked to demonstrate your skill with wood & fire. Can you cut a piece of wood like a lucifer? Can you make fire without a lucifer? We'll see ;-) If you survive these rounds, you will be one of the lucky five to go to the final

Today we announce the cooperation of Frag-O-Matic with the PROG4MER organisation. This will ensure us that the level of competition at the upcoming FOM edition will be of the highest quality.
PROG4MER has supported FOM with €2.500 CASH support for three of its main competitions (CS:GO, LoL and SCII) as part of their Benelux PROG4MER rankings. Not only will teams participating at this FOM edition be able to win cash and hardware, they will also earn points towards the overall PROG4MER ranking, which could see them in the Season II finals at the end of the year.
PROG4MER will also aid FOM with additional admins, streaming crew and shoutcasters and the PROG4MER platform will be used for all tournaments.
The PROG4MER platform makes the life of our admins much easier as it allows for an automated tournament system to be created and managed, with only supervision needed from the admins. It allows teams and players to enter and accept scores themselves and thus speeds up competition.
We ask all participants of FOM to create a PROG4MER account and register themselves and/or their entire team for the competitions they wish to participate in. The deadline for this is February 13th.

We are impressed by the large demand for tickets this edition of FoM. And we regret to announce to those who didn't order a ticket yet that the stock of remaining tickets has decreased to zero at this moment. That means that you cannot order a ticket anymore on the website.

The sale of the normal tickets ends on Jan, 31st and "late entry" tickets will not be available from Feb 1st. First we will give some time to check payments in progress and to decide how many "late entry" tickets will be available.
The remaining "late entry" tickets will be sold from Feb. 4rd or later. First paid, first served. If you are still late with your payment and there are no tickets available anymore then we will repay you.

Everyone will get a connection that is 10 times faster than before. Also all local network traffic will go smoother.
Internet still stays the same for now, but still fast enough to surf on the internet or download updates for your games.
At this moment, our most talented engineers are busy to test the new network and send a shitload of packets through to be sure that everything is fine-tuned for FOM.
The seatmap for Frag-o-Matic 15.0 has been opened for quite some time, and quite some seats are already taken (no worries, there is still plenty of room left). Recently we've added a feature which allows you to cancel your seat reservation. You can use this feature for example when you notice that your team is sitting too far from you.
To make use of this feature, make sure you are logged in and go to the seatmap. Under the legend you'll see your current seatnumber and a button to cancel your seat reservation.
We would also want to use this opportunity to clarify something. In the previous edition we had a separate concept of 'group tickets'. Even though this product isn't available in our webshop, you can still order such tickets. Just order a regular ticket, and choose the desired amount of tickets. Once you've received your tickets you'll be able to assign them to your team mates and select seats on the seatmap.
We just received some great news from one of our partners: Electronic Arts! EA announced today a beta-event of the highly anticipated SimCity game developed by Maxis Studio! The beta-event takes place between the 25th until the 28th of January and we have 30 keys to give away!
How to get a chance at winning a key? Simple!:
Recently we already announced our major competitions. Now we can give you an estimated value of the prizes for each of these competitions. A competition can have a cash and/or product prize! Last edition we had a total prizepool of 25.000EUR value including 5.000EUR cash! Currently the prizepool is still growing so it shouldn't be a problem to reach our record of last edition (and even set a new record of prizes in the FoM history)!

This edition we will be organising a dozen of fun acitivities and contests! These will be mainly involve our theme 'Survival'. A detailed list of all these activities will be announced on a later date!
We have some special guests at Frag O Matic this edition, the Crew of “Awesome Retro.”
Awesome Retro is a group of guys dedicated to old school retro gaming consoles. All the stuff they have is donated and perhaps even repaired and then given a second life.
Nintendo’s, Sega’s, Commodore, Atari and even the old school Pong console.
We have reserved 100 m2 for them to set up their game “heritage.” You can play their consoles whole weekend! (20 consoles more then 40 play seats)
If you have an old or broken console, you can donate this to the Awesome Retro crew. They can use it in future events or use it for spare parts to repair their consoles with.

The seatmap for Frag-o-Matic 15.0 has been available for quite some time now, but since yesterday the seatmap reservations have opened as well!
We kept the changes made in last edition of Frag-o-Matic, in an effort to have less free seats between clans and make sure that every participant could sit with his team.
Ticket holders can only reserve seats next to a seat which is taken or at the beginning of a row. Teams wishing to get seats next to each other, should make sure that each member has his ticket before reserving seats on the seatmap, to make sure they can sit next to each other.
Keep in mind that you can only pick a seat once. If there would be any problems, please contact seatmap@fom.be.

A new year, good intentions. Maybe you would like to work as a volunteer this year? Frag-o-Matic is constantly looking for volunteers to help with the organization of LAN parties. The most famous this year are of course the upcoming FoM 15.0 survival edition in February and the FoM 15.1 edition later this year, but we also support smaller events where possible.
If you want to do cool stuff for the LAN scene, do not hesitate any longer and join our group. We are with approximately 50 volunteer crew members and we consist of 14 different specialized teams. As a member of the crew can meet lots of new people and learn a lot by working with them.
As a crew member, you will work as a volunteer. You get food & drink vouchers, a separate place for your PC in the crew area and a separate sleeping spot, 2 T-shirts and you are insured.
If you are interested, please send an email to info@fom.be containing your full name, age and tell us more about yourself and/or your motivation.
Maybe you can mention in your email which team you are a possible candidate for: animation & decoration, video & sound, catering, compo's, crew care, game servers, help desk, network, power, news posters, security, software development, sponsorship management, vipcare.

In about two months, the next edition of FoM will be here where you can play your favorite games! But this time around, FoM will be slightly different than any edition has ever been!
This is because we have made a new system in which we expect to have less or no problems at all with teams/clans who sign up for a couple of compo’s. We’re also giving you a better chance at winning prizes at FoM!
These are one of the changes that will happen at FoM 15.0:
The first wave of compos (Grand Compo’s) will start at 23:00 on Friday night; these are the biggest compo’s like: COD:BO2, LoL, CS:GO and SC2. These compo’s will have a group phase and double elimination brackets!
The second wave (Normal Compo’s) will start after the group phase has finished of the Grand Compo’s. These games like TMNF, MK, CS:S, LoL (3v3), SC2 (2v2) and BF3 will start around 13 / 14h on Saturday afternoon and contain a group phase and Double Elimination (if possible).
The last wave of compos (Fast Compo’s) start around 18/19h Saturday night. These are games like FIFA, LoL (1v1), SC2 Hots Beta, GH, Tetrinet & Worms and have either Double or Single Elimination.
The fun compo’s will be played throughout the whole LAN. These are the contests that will be played during the opening ceremony and the competitions organised by our partners such as EA, Tones, etc.
In this case it is possible that you sign up to play in CS:GO. When you notice that you will be out of the compo, you can sign up for f.e. CS:S or another compo.

Organizing LAN competitions isn’t easy lately with the current state of gaming. Most of all because a lot of games also require an internet connection and LAN style gaming has been faded out this way.
On the other hand are we waiting some big names like Heart of the Swarm for Starcraft 2 or the server configurations for Black Ops 2 (CoD) or Battlefield 3.
At the moment we will only be giving you a “draft”-version of our compo list. This means that everything can change in the future weeks to come.

We considered the good and bad responses from the feedback topic about FOM 14.1 and we will try to make FOM 15.0 even better! We also want to focus on the quality of the compos for the next edition to make sure that they will go without flaws.
