Before the start of FoM we already started two contests where you can win some nice prizes! After our announcement of the 9lives FFA pre-cup we now present our second contest! So if you want to win a small survival package for our upcoming event then you really should keep reading this!
This weekend 9lives will be organising a small pre-cup where you can win a FoM ticket! So if you have some spare time this Saturday 28th of January and you have a copy of one of the following games: CoD MW3 or Starcraft II then you should really read this newspost!
How can I win a ticket?
You send an email to willonic@9lives.be with the subject called "9lives FFA x" ( x stands for the game CoD MW3 or Starcraft II) and explain why you should win a FoM ticket. Next to that you include your Steam name / character name + code. Eight players will be selected each game. For each game, we provide the winner with a ticket.

After the announcement a couple of days ago about the competitions on Frag-o-Matic, it is time to reveal what the participants will be fighting/racing/dribbling/... for! Not only do we reward the absolute tournament winners at Frag-o-Matic, we always reward the 2nd and 3rd place as well! This way we want to keep a balance between competitiveness and fun: everyone can win something! Prizes for the various funcompo's from FOM and its partners 9lives and Gamegear will be announced later.
Before we go into details, we can already state that (for the compos which we'll list below alone) we have a total of:

FoM 14.0 is coming soon! Since it is less than a month away, we would like to remind you of a few important things.
Starting the 1st of February, a ticket will cost € 40.00. If you would obtain your tickets for the current price of € 35.00 per ticket, you will have to pay before February 1st. Regarding payments: we strongly suggest to order and pay for the tickets as a group (e.g. for you clan). That way gives you the certainty that each clan member will have an entrance ticket. On top of that, this procedure gives you the possibility to mark all the seats for your clan on the seatmap.
Payments can be made through PayPal and/or bank transfer; if you process a PayPal payment through our website, the payment will be processed automatically and the tickets will be sent to you instantly.
Our ticketing procedure can be found here. Since a couple of weeks our seatmap is open for reservations: you can now pick your seats on our interactive seatmap!

The experience of our events for our participants and visitors is of great importance to us. One problem that has been reported to us through our surveys was the communication towards our participants during the event concerning news, compo coverage and interviews. So we decided to make some changes and improve this communication.
For the first time we will collaborate with only one official media partner for Frag-o-Matic 14.0. We give a warm welcome to 9lives.be, our new official media partner who will bring you the latests FoM reports, 24/24, all weekend long! The well known Belgian community website and forum will send a brigade of 7 stormtroopers to FoM.
This team is the core-redaction team of their new e-sports section, which saw its first publications a couple of months ago.
By our collaboration with only one media partner, we are able to bring the news to you from one centralized place, which makes that you all will be brought much faster up to speed about the latest developments of the biggest gaming festival of Belgium!
So what does it mean to be an official FoM media partner?
First of all, you'll see them during the entire weekend running around with a camera looking for interesting interviews, ambiance shots and registering all highlights of FoM 14.0. A couple of these highlights will most definitely be the opening show, FoMCON, the pain compo, the compo finals and some other (secret) activities ...
Always wanted to know more about the construction of the biggest LAN party? Thursday, the day before the opening, they will drop by to take some exclusive 'behind the scenes' footage!
They will start their main activities on Friday from 20:30h. Then they'll claim our main stage for the final episode of their newest "No lives show" streaming series! More information about this show can be found here: 9lives show.
Another field on which 9lives and the FoM crew will collaborate on, is the live streaming and shoutcasting of different matches. This livestream will probably go through the 9lives channel, but expect more information about the live streaming soon!
9lives will also bring a couple of nice prizes which they will give to the winners of our fun competitions. On top of that they will have their own booth on Frag-o-Matic where you can learn more about their redaction and where you can participate in a console funcompo.
In short: all the up-to-date news brought to you live from FoM, containing interviews, movies and coverage: 9Lives! Other media organisations are of course still most welcome to report about our event and/or do interviews on saturday and sunday (contact: press@fom.be)!
We at Frag-o-Matic appreciate the ideas and suggestions made by our visitors. We are thinking about offering lockers for rent during Frag-o-Matic 14.0. You will be able to store your valuable possessions here, varying from gaming mice, wallets to headsets or whatever item is valuable to you.
These lockers will be available during the whole event for a small fee of 5 euro; possibly with a small guarantee deposit.
Since this is our first time offering these lockers, we wanted to create a poll. So please vote on the right side of the website and let us know what you think of this idea!
After our announcement of the main official and fun competitions (rewind), the time has come to reveal the console competitions we are preparing for the upcoming edition of Frag-o-Matic.
Since a couple of years, Frag-o-Matic events always have a console area where you can relax and play some console games. This zone is also the battleground for a couple of console competitions which always rewards the winners with prize packages!
We finally reached a consensus about the competitions which will be played during the upcoming edition of Frag-o-Matic! As always we've tried to find a balance between different games and types, giving everyone the opportunity to participate.
In addition to the official compos, we'll also organize a couple of fun competitions.
Depending on the number of participants it can be that we shift some competitions (change a fun compo to an official one or the other way around).
Console competitions will be announced as soon as possible.
We are doing our best to get confirmations about the prize packages as soon as possible, so stay tuned!
Starting from today, the seatmap for Frag-o-Matic 14.0 is open for reservations.
Persons with a valid FoM 14.0 ticket can now pick their seat from our live interactive seatmap.
The new system allows you to pick seats for each of the tickets that you purchased. So if you bought multiple tickets for your team, you can pick a seat for each of these tickets.
We've started with only a section of the hall open for public. Depending on the sales of tickets we'll open more rows.

Owners of a VIP ticket get a personal service, they should contact vip@fom.be (1 mail per team) with indications which seats of the VIP zone they prefer.

The big announcement in this mailing is that we'll be opening the seatmap requests for Frag-o-Matic 14.0 on 11th of January. For this process we'll be introducing a new system which allows you to pick your seats on a live seatmap.
Persons who bought multiple tickets will also be able to reserve a seat for each of their tickets.
Important note is that you can only reserve a seat if you have bought your Frag-o-Matic 14.0 ticket.
If you haven't purchased your tickets, you should do so as soon as possible to make sure you can pick the best spot!
More information about the seatmap system will be given soon.
With the beginning of the new year, we've also entered a second stage in the ticketing process; from now on the tickets for Frag-o-Matic 14.0 are available for € 35.00!
The second stage of the ticketing process starts from February 1st. From this date tickets will be sold at € 40.00!

For those of you who forgot: until January 1st we've an Early Bird action for tickets for FoM 14.0: Space!
Tickets which were paid before the first day of 2012 will only cost € 30.00!
Starting from January 1st, the standard tickets will be available for € 35.00 each.
If you still want to make use of the current early bird action: you can order your tickets here, and make sure the payment is sent to us before January 1st. Because we know that payments coming from abroad may take a few days longer, we'll look at the date on which the payment was sent.
So all tickets paid before January 1st will be charged with € 30.00 .
We have to dissapoint those among you who were considering to buy a VIP ticket: only 2 days after the sales started they were already sold out (and we even sold more than we originally intended to!).
If the early bird action isn't enough to order your tickets straight away, we can also give a small tip. Soon we'll be releasing some new website updates which might be very interesting for those of you who already have their tickets!

A few months ago in a galaxy far, far away, the aliens from planet Frags decided to host the biggest gaming event ever known, but they had not found a planet yet.
So they turned to us, people of the Earth, for a place to bring games and gamers and just about anyone interested in games together. It took us no time to decide on the location: the Oktoberhallen, Wieze. The Frags’ were very specific on the date: February 17 until 19.
So with pride we present what will be the next milestone in the Belgian gaming history: Frag-o-Matic 14.0: Space!

After a very succesful edition, which by the way was completely booked, we're already busy with the preparations of our next edition. Of course we are interested in your opinion, which you may share with us here.
In order to organize our events even better, and to make sure that we can continue to grow, it is absolutely crucial to find more motivated persons, who wish to participate in the organisation of one of the biggest and most pleasant LAN parties of the Benelux!
Frag-o-Matic is organized by volunteers who are very passionate about the LAN scene and eSports, and do the best they can the bring you the best LAN party.
Handy people for constructing and destructing FoM, newsposts, compo admins, people who can bake fries, programmers, PR people, system admins, ... we can use all kinds of hands!
If you do not want to be part of our organization, but you still help out, this is also possible; you can also do some shifts during our events (in exchange for food coupons) or help us with the construction of destruction, ...

Christophe is a student at Ghent University and he is doing his Masters degree in Criminology. For this purpose he's currently writing a thesis on "LAN party's in Vlaanderen" (LAN party's in Flanders).
The last decade has been marked by significant changes in the area of computers. LAN party's are not far behind in this speedy evolution.
After a few successfull years recently LAN party's have been marked by somewhat dark times because of the negative pubicity they had gained.
As of late things are spinning up again and maybe that's for the better.
There's very little research being done on the topic of LAN party's. All seems to focus on peer 2 peer downloading.
However, LAN party's are more than that, hence the research I've set up.
For that reason he'd like you to participate in a simple online survey. The questionaire consists of easy to follow checkboxes and short fields to complete.
Need not say that the more of you participate, the better quality the results will be.
Because it's that important to have as many participants as possible I've even included a small lottery among participants.
There's a few nice prizes to be won, among others a few Logitech gaming mice!
